"I want the audience to feel the heat radiating off the pavement. I want them to feel the dirt underneath the fingernails and I want them to question where reality ends and dreams begin."
"Backroads" is a unique film that required a unique look. To achieve the gritty and hot yet dream-like aesthetic that the director sought, the post-production team of Mark Scofield (designer / editor) and David Strohl (still photographer / colorist) created a process using Photoshop and After Effects to digitally enhance the already rich images captured by director of photography PJ Raval. The effect is even more impressive in motion, where the grit and grain of a true "film-like" look is brought out.
