Pre-festival notes
Last night I went to the AFS Pre-SXSW mixer with Tracy, Kristina, and Brett. We brought some spiffy new postcards for "Backroads" that Matt Wetzler put together for us and handed them out. Mostly we mingled. Ahhh but the festival buzz was in the air. It's about to begin.
Tomorrow is a busy day. I'm looking forward to picking up my badge and all my gear and seeing at least one or two films. I'm looking forward to laying out a plan of the upteen films I'll be watching over the next week (with a few parties sprinkled in here and there for good measure). I'm looking forward to blogging about it all.
Of course there's work to be done, too. We're still working to get as many people to the screening on Saturday as possible (if you're reading this, make sure you're there!). I've done a lot of work on the Backroads mini site and still have a few more things to add. Tracy printed some posters and is dashing around town putting them up. I have some festival submissions I have to get sent off before I become too immersed in the festival. And of course there's that real life thing calling with its own list of obligations.
It all just blurs into a whirlwind of scurrying activity and thoughts. One minute I'm emailing someone about the screening, the next I'm coaching a swim lesson, and ten minutes later I'm updating the web site on my way to another show. The only thing as crazy as producing a film is trying to make the most out of going to a film festival.
