A great many things / off to New York
The last few weeks have been a blur of activity. On Tuesday March 8, I began working on THE TREE OF LIFE, the new Terrence Malick film (yes that one with Brad Pitt and Sean Penn being filmed in Texas). To say that the opportunity to work on the film, in any way, is a dream come true is an enormous understatement. So far I've been working mostly with the B-Camera crew. We're doing a lot of interesting and experimental work. It's an honor to be a part of it, especially in a role that actually may have some kind of impact on the final film. I'm mostly sworn to secrecy. But every now and then I'll try to throw in a little tease.
I've been coaching, doing the marriage preparation thing, reading Karl Jaspers' PHILOSOPHY OF EXISTENCE, and working to promote Backroads in between the occasional hour of sleep (we also found out that we got into the Jacksonville Film Festival... woohoo!). But it feels good to be so busy. This past Sunday was the end of a very difficult week, and my mind was entirely numb. Tomorrow we fly off to New York.
I'll try to blog at least once from the city. I'm hoping to have a big audience at the screening on Wednesday. Hopefully we'll remember to take some pictures this time!
