Lone Star State of mind...
I'm in Austin for a few days of homestyle rest and relaxation. I've been enjoying my time catching up with friends and family, eating tex-mex, and generally doing all things Austin related. It's amazing how the town both seems to change and stay the same every time I leave and return. There's a new towering building every time I return, and the downtown area seems to be successfully "downtownizing" itself step by step. I caught MOON this afternoon at the Arboretum theatre with my friend Owen, and am now taking a little time to do some writing in my old coffee shop haunt 360 Primo. I used to live minutes from here, for years in my old apartment right off of 360, and then in our house just the other side of 183. It's an odd feeling, this homecoming, of returning to the places you once called home as a tourist of sorts, of the places still feeling like yours and yet feeling alien too. Everything is smaller here, and even the most profane signs of urban sprawl feel homemade.
